Your mom.
Sorry – Apparently 8am brainstorms and nearly a week’s worth of work shoved into three days have caused me to become a bit mentally unstable cheeky (I’m three months into England – Can I use that term yet?). I really wanted to write an incredibly interesting, thought-provoking and deep post tonight, but I’m afraid the only thing I can muster right now is an ‘inspiration’ meme that came to me from Jaz, who is one of many who have contributed.
So seriously. What inspires my blog posts?
It’s changed quite a bit over the course of my 16-month tenure. Originally when I started this blog, it was all about positioning myself and making contacts in London, which quite frankly paid off since I got a job out of it. However, I always knew the point of this blog was going to be a little bit about social media and a little bit about me. During my ‘not sure if I’m ever going to move’ phase, Fake Plastic Noodles was only about social media. It wasn’t as fun for me. I got those stories mainly from reading other people’s blogs. Now that I’m living in London and keeping my blog in line with its original intended purpose, there are far more opportunities for ‘inspiration.’
- Events: If you haven’t noticed in the last couple months, a lot of my posts have been about events that I’ve gone to. I won’t lie – they’re total cop out posts. The inspiration isn’t really inspiration at all. It’s easy – and in these busy holiday times with event after event coming up, you have a lot of material to work with
- Personal experiences written on random pieces of paper: For example, my forthcoming post on the “Top 5 Coolest Things I’ve Used Twitter for This Week” that I’ve been sitting on for at least three.
- Twitter: Great place to share info, but I’m trying to cut down on my reliance on the site. I feel that Twitter has made me lazy (but that’s a blog post for a different day).
- Whatever paper I read on the way into or out of work: Everyday there’s some sort of interesting social media tidbit in the Metro, London Lite or londonpaper.
- My frustrations: Nothing like being pissed off to foster inspiration! Bad day at work? Annoying estate agents? London pollution boogers? Take it out on the Internet. Even if no one is listening, at least I feel better.
- My loves: I could write sonnets about the cranberry brie panini at Cafe Fresco
- Pictures: Mainly funny things I see and put my photo blog.
I’m pretty darn sure this thing has gone all around the social media blogosphere, so if I tag you and you’ve written about it, please forgive me. How about Tom Phillips (even though he doesn’t seem the meme-ish type), Chris Reed and the newly-introduced to me, Iain Tait?

Hi Melanie… I meant to say last night, I’m not deliberately ignoring this. I’m just waiting for inspiration to write it up ;)
